Air Quality Solutions

October 23, 2025
Air Cleaner

If you live in southern California, you are aware of outdoor smog pollution, but pollution also affects the quality of indoor air. Poor indoor air quality warning signs are dust, odors and even suffering from allergy-like symptoms. Both air cleaners and air purifiers trap or remove contaminants from the air to filter out indoor air pollutants. Read on to find out about different air quality solutions to determine which one is best suited for your home or business.

Air Cleaner

Air filters protect your HVAC system from dirt, dust and debris buildup to keep it functioning effectively and efficiently. They trap contaminants to keep them from circulating throughout your home. Air cleaners filter out, rather than just trap, dirt, mold, and other pollutants from the air. They protect your HVAC system and your health from indoor contaminants. Media air cleaners is another more expensive air quality solution. Media air cleaners trap small pollutants and help keep the air clean better than disposable air filters. The upfront cost of media air cleaners is higher, but require less maintenance in the long run than disposable filters. Another option is an electronic air cleaner. They capture small particles with a physical filter and an electric charge making them highly effective. Electronic air filters can capture particles as small as 0.3 microns which most other cleaners or filters cannot prevent.

Air Purifier

Air purifiers are a different type of air quality solution. You can install an air purifier in the ductwork to  remove dust, mold, and other contaminants from circulating throughout the HVAC system. They create cleaner, healthier indoor air and improve the efficiency of your HVAC system. Like air cleaners, air purifiers can remove small particles from your indoor air. However, instead of using filters or electric charges, an air purifier removes contaminants by using ultraviolet lamps. The ultraviolet lamps kill bacteria, viruses, molds and fungus. If you suffer from allergies, asthma or any chronic respiratory problems installing an air purifier should especially be considered. For businesses such as salons, dry cleaners or auto body repair shops where VOCs are part of the environment an HVAC air purifier is highly recommended. If your air purification needs are confined to a small area portable air purifiers are also an option.
