R-22 is no longer produced, so recharges are expensive and only buy time. We will give you a straight repair-versus-replace breakdown. A replacement heat pump in LADWP territory can also qualify for a rebate.
A straight repair usually does not need one, but replacing or installing a system does require a permit in the City of Los Angeles. We pull the permit and do the work to code. LADWP also requires the final approved permit before it pays a rebate.
In the LADWP service area, LADWP pays up to $1,250 per ton for ducted heat pumps (including package units) and up to $2,500 per ton for ductless mini-splits, depending on efficiency. New construction and ADUs are not eligible. Burbank Water and Power and Glendale Water and Power have their own heat pump rebates for replacing gas equipment. If you are an SCE customer in an eligible community, ask us about the SCE Home Performance Plus heat pump rebate; it has income, location and equipment rules, and the work must be done by a participating contractor like us. Rebates are not guaranteed and funding is first-come, first-served.
Yes. The LADWP account holder files the rebate within 12 months of purchase, and we confirm your equipment qualifies and give you the documents you need: the AHRI certificate, the final approved permit and your paid itemized invoice.
No. The federal heat pump tax credit ended for systems placed in service after December 31, 2025. The LADWP rebate is now the main way homeowners in the City of Los Angeles offset the cost of a heat pump.
