The most common signs your AC is low on refrigerant are: air from the vents that is warmer than it should be, ice or frost forming on the copper suction line or the indoor coil, a hissing or bubbling sound near the lines, the system running much longer than usual without cooling, and a noticeable jump in your electric bill. You may also see the outdoor unit running constantly on a hot day while the house never reaches the setpoint. Because refrigerant circulates in a sealed loop and is not used up, low refrigerant always means a leak somewhere. Topping it off without finding the leak is a temporary fix at best. If you are seeing these signs, have an EPA-certified technician test pressures and locate the leak. Call LA Heating & Air at (818) 660-1062 for same-day service.
